His research focuses on the characterization of the pathology of lymphoid neoplasms and the understanding their the molecular and genetic mechanisms. He has been co-Director of the Spanish ICGC-CLL genome project, member of the USA National Academy of Medicine since 2018 and Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Toulouse France in 2024.
